One of the special elements of the When Leaders Lead Conference is the workshop sessions. We prayerfully and carefully select topics that we think will equip, encourage, support, and inspire you as leaders. This year we are delighted to offer over 20 workshops taught by various leaders.
When Leaders Lead Workshops 2017
Here are the workshop choices that will be available for you to prayerfully consider attending at the conference.
A Crash Course in Apologetics for Crazy-Busy Women
As redeemed women, we want to share our faith and be ready to give unbelievers reasons and evidence for the truth of Christianity. This workshop will give you a “working knowledge” of apologetics and inspire you to respond to unbelievers’ questions.
Be a leader who serves and supports your pastor's wife, leadership team, and others by loving, believing in, and blessing them in life and ministry.
Balancing Ministry and Family
Grace Brodersen & Michelle Taylor
Join us in a conversation aimed toward pinpointing the areas where we have unwittingly veered out of balance in our commitments or our goals. We will look at biblically rebuilding our priorities and capacities, practically sharing ideas of how we can cultivate new habits and goals, and pray together toward that end.
Bible Studies for the Churched and Unchurched
This workshop will help equip you to stir up love and good works in community Bible studies. Further, we will explore ways to reach the unchurched to disarm their fears and concerns, and make them disciples of Jesus Christ.
It has been said, "You have to been on fire to be burnt-out.” We all go through seasons of being tired, overwhelmed, frustrated, disappointed, or even critical, but we keep pressing forward in the work. How do we stop the cycle and refuel, recharge, and reignite? Join me as we examine what being burned out can look like and discover ways to prevent it as we stay connected to the source of life.
Crossing Generational Lines
With five generations living at this time in history, ministering to each at the same time can be challenging. Each generation seems to have a “culture” in itself. Together let’s discuss how understanding these differences can help us learn to appreciate and serve each more effectively. Let’s learn to love them for who they are, and find ways to build the Kingdom of God together!
Deepening Your Spiritual Life
In this workshop we will consider practical, personal pursuits that will deepen our spiritual life.
Discovering and Developing a Great Leader
Be a great leader for Christ! Learn how to identify and develop women into the fullness of their leadership calling; it is biblical and as easy as the ABCs.
Essentials of Leadership
Jesus didn’t choose qualified leaders. He chose the teachable and trained them through failure and success. Come find freedom and joy to lead with excellence—His way! We will look at key leaders in Scripture to learn essential characteristics of how godly leadership is developed.
Finding Spiritual Power for Spiritual Work
Serve God with greater joy, peace, and freedom as you grow in your dependence upon the Holy Spirit to do spiritual work with spiritual power. Learning these truths will help free us from the fear of man, self-focus, self-reliance and chronic second-guessing in ministry.
Finding Your Place in Ministry
Nicolette Cook & Amber Adams
As women coming up behind the previous generation’s strong and effective ministry, we need to learn how to enter the call of ministry graciously and in God’s timing. Come learn how to seek vision from the Lord for our generation's ministry opportunities in events, service, and life!
Godly Counsel and Friendship
Nicole Williams & Dee Dee Morris
“A friend loves at all times” (Proverbs 17:17). This workshop will detail the joys of friendship and why having Christian friends is essential to maintain a closer walk with God.
God's Encouragement in the Midst of Suffering
Jesus is the greatest encourager that ever lived! When we go through devastating trials, such as a difficult marriage, illness, a prodigal, or loneliness, we all need encouragement to stay close to the Lord. We will look at how God encourages us through times of suffering.
Hindrances, Obstacles, and Spiritual Warfare in Ministry
When we step out to do a work for the Lord, we can expect the enemy to push back. But, victory is sure for those who are dependent on the Lord and make His glory their aim. Join us as we gain insight and encouragement from stories of men and women of faith.
HOMESCHOOLING 101 AND BEYOND
Have you been feeling the call to educate your children at home, but have no idea how to start? Or, have you been homeschooling your children and need some fresh ideas to keep going strong? Come join us for a time of encouragement and prayer, as well as an opportunity to get connected and receive inspiration from fellow home educators.
HOW TO DESTROY YOUR WOMEN’S MINISTRY IN 6 EASY STEPS
As leaders, we can’t share what we don’t have; we can’t teach what we don’t understand; nor can we inspire others without being inspired. Therefore, the aim of this workshop is to prayerfully consider what we really believe and how the strength of our convictions impacts our effectiveness and fruitfulness in ministry.
HOW TO ESTABLISH AN INTERCESSORY PRAYER GROUP
This workshop will focus on how to establish an intercessory prayer group for your pastor, church and missionaries. We will be encouraged as we hear “miracle stories” of God's amazing answers at the perfect time. We will also focus on developing personal prayer time and using the Bible in prayer.
IMPACTING YOUR COMMUNITY IN LOVE
Megan Callender & Aubrie Burke
It’s no accident the places and people God puts within our reach! In this workshop, you will be inspired to go out into your campus, church, workplace, or wherever you may be, with the love of Jesus.
IS GOD ENOUGH WHEN YOU’RE HURTING?
If you enjoyed Hannah’s main session, come hear more from her at this workshop!
MASTERPIECE OF MARRIAGE
In every marriage, either giddy romance wanes and is replaced with a sturdier and more mature love, or sin and selfishness reduce the marriage to a standoff. Every marriage struggles, but that same struggle can be used by God to create the oneness we all long for. We are different by design because God is creating a masterpiece.
MINISTERING IN DARK PLACES
“And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—secret riches” (Isaiah 45:3a, NLT). This workshop will focus on ministering in difficult and dark places. We will discuss preparation to face the darkness, how to overcome fear, and the great reward that awaits those who choose to be bondage breakers.
PRAYING TOGETHER FOR OUR CHILDREN
Whether our children are young or old, successful or struggling, walking with the Lord or prodigals, they need our prayers. In this workshop, we will share tools and practical helps to facilitate unintimidating prayer meetings.
Tending the Lambs Like Our Great Shepherd
Using passages from Scripture, we see that God has specific instructions about tending the flocks He has given us, as well as specific warnings on how not to tend His sheep. What does His true care look like? His ways as a true Shepherd are clearly laid out for us to follow.
Touched & Transformed
Sally Van Wick
There is hope for the hurting! The Touched & Transformed workshop will introduce you to a 10-week discipleship study for those who want to be made well by the power and presence of Jesus. You will learn how to walk others through the Word of God to discover unhindered freedom that comes only from a touch of the Holy Spirit.
When Life Is in Tatters: Loving the Broken-Hearted From a Broken Heart
Sometimes it’s easy to love Jesus: when your ministry is rocking, your husband does the dishes, and your pants still zip up. But what about when God doesn’t heal? When relationships crash? When you find yourself flat on your back with loss? Come talk with me about real life, real misery, real grief, and ultimately, real love. Let’s learn how to find a way out of the pit, as well as how to love someone else out of theirs.
Writing and Teaching a Bible Study
We are going to cover a lot of ground in this workshop! Join us as we explore the process of writing a Bible study for group discussion and also look at some practical tips for teaching a Bible study.
